Question

Help! How do I stop my BYD from digging all my plants and bulbs up. She has plenty of fun toys, bones, milk cartons and love! I feel like I am reprimanding her all the time. I have tried the poop in the hole suggestion to no avail. I'm desperate!

Answer

Digging is a natural behavior for dogs, but a frustrating one for humans! I suggest that you make your dog a specific place in your yard that is his/her special place to dig. A lot of people make a sand box area specifically for their dogs and put their toys and bones etc. in it. You will repeatedly have to show your dog the area and lead your dog to it and praise your dog for being there. This will take time and patience but a dog would much rather be rewarded and praised than scolded for their behavior. In no time, your dog will know!
