Question

My two year old BYD has recently been acting disoriented and stumbles after playing in the evening. It has been relatively hot and humid, but she has played in hotter and more humid weather before. This has just recently started happening and goes away within five minutes or less. My vet told me it's probably heat related, but the symptoms are so extreme and she recovers so quickly that I'm looking for a second opinion. Could it be small strokes?

Answer

Your Lab's condition could be because of the heat. But if this condition continues after the weather cools off, I would recommend you see a specialist - either an internal or a neurologist - to make sure your dog does not have some other underlying conditions.
