Question
My 5-month old yellow Lab has patches on his body that are some kind of skin irritation. They are kind of like raw spots mostly on his stomach and a few others on his legs. I have heard of hot spots and allergies from food and air. They dont seem to bother him too bad; he just licks them sometimes. But I don't want to take any chances. Soon I will be taking him to the vet, but I wanted another opinion in the meantime to compare. Thank you for any help.
Answer
Even though allergies are very common in this breed of dog, it is rare at such a young age. When your puppy goes for its check up, your veterinarian may do a skin scraping to make sure your puppy does not have a mite or fungal problem.
