Question
I have a 13-weeks-old dog that I got five weeks ago. After a while, I realized that she was drinking a lot and weeing a lot - more than two litres of water a day and about 30 wees. I took her to my vet, who suspected a bladder infection. I gave her antibiotics for four days with no change. He has now diagnosed her with diabetes insipidus. I am giving her tablets called Moduret 25. She drinks less than a litre now but the amount of wees have not changed. The only test the vet did was a urine test (stripe). Is that enough to be able to be sure about the diagnosis?I would be grateful for a fast answer because I do not know what to do anymore! Thank you!
Answer
I would strongly suggest that you have a blood chemistry panel and CBC ran on your puppy. I would also run a urinalysis to determine if there is bacteria, blood, protein, glucose, etc., in the urine. I feel more testing should be done to get a definitive diagnosis. You may want to seek a second opinion.
