Question
My yellow lab is 2 1/2. She recently had a bump behind her ear then another one developed a few days later as if she was bit by some kind of insect. After a few more days there were many smaller versions surrounding the original bump. I thought it was poison ivy. Is there something I can put on this before it spreads further? The rash is a hard crustation.
Answer
It sounds as if your lab is having an allergic reaction to an insect or something he/she has had contact with. Dogs when they come in contact with poison ivy usually do not contract it due to their coats, but they can pass it to humans in this manner. If the bumps do not go away quickly or spread further I would recommend you see your veterinarian for an examination.
