Question

My yellow Lab has not been around hardly any other dogs and was neutered at 4.5 months. He has never learned to hike his leg during urination and often wets on his front legs. He sort of squats but not low enough. Any suggestions on breaking him of this?

Answer

This is very common for some male dogs. Unfortunately, as you stated, leg hiking is a learned behavior and sometimes not very desirable either. You might try moving your dog's hind legs out with your foot. If he will allow you to do this as he starts to urinate, it will make him stretch out further.
