Question
Our Lab's ears keep getting attacked by flies. It has been causing them to bleed and now they are open like a wound. We use the medication the vet recommened and it is not working. I am worried that she might lose the tips of her ears if this does not stop. Please help us.
Answer
Fly bite is very common on the tips of dogs' ears. No matter what product you use, you are probably going to have to apply it several times daily for it to be effective. Vaseline can be used also - apply it then the fly wipe so that you have a double coating. If this does not work you may need to consider keeping your dog inside more or adding a fly system to his outside area.
