Question
We just got a 7-month-old yellow Lab. She seems to be very fidgetty and seems to have an erratic breath when she sleeps. Should we be concerned? Her first visit to the vet is in a week, but I'm not sure if I should wait. Thanks!
Answer
If your puppy seems healthy in ever other way, that is eating, playing, normal stool, etc., your puppy is probably dreaming. It is very common for puppies to run in their sleep, chase balls in their sleep, whine, increase their breathing, sometimes even bark. Studies show that dreaming is very frequent and normal in the puppy stage of life. I would mention this to your veterinarian just to be sure.
