Question

Hello. I am wondering what the safest, most family-oriented dog is. My last dog bit a child without being provoked in any way. I'd like to do some research to find out what type of dog is least-likely to do this. I was thinking about a black or yellow Lab. Is there a difference between them? Also would a male or female be better? Thanks!

Answer

Labs do make good family pets. But what we must realize is that most dogs or puppies see children as litter mates not adults and pack leaders. So no matter what type of dog you get, the child and the dog will have to be trained to respect one another. Either sex is good, especially if spayed or neutered.
